Distributor Gasket - Part Number?

Must be a modern replacement for the distributor to block gasket? OR do I need to pull the distributor out to match one up?

Most guys use an o ring. Match up your old gasket at the parts store.0

As I recall both Hudson and Studebaker used a cork gasket on the distributor base. With a NOS or older gasket set the cork has dried, shrunk, and broken. I bought a low cost O - ring set and have been able to match up a replacement easily. Gert Kristiansen0

I have been using an 'o' ring also. Local parts store should be able to suppy one.0

I've had to use 2 o-rings from the Harbor Freight kit as one o-ring wasn't enough to seal a slight leak for me. YMMV. Bruce0

So I haven't pulled the distributor yet..is the mating surface (distributor to block) made for an o-ring or folks just using them as an alternative?
If the mating surface is flush, I'd think a composite gasket would seal better?0 -
Not flush, its counterbored. Factory gasket is a square cut cork 'donut'. A fat O-ring seems like a better solution. As long as it is fatter than the counterbore is deep.

Great Pic of the block - makes more sense.
I think I'll pull the distributor Sat morning and replace whats there..its like the Hudson Valdeze when I park it right now and so far that seems to be culprit.
What does the business end of the distributor look like? If someone has a pic they can share....0 -
Call Dale Cooper, he's got them.0
