Jim
Will you still be able to get your 10% discount? Congrats on finally calling it a career. Now you
will have more time to help me work on my 53.

Just read this and offer my congratulations! Now I know who to call when I change out windshields, engines and other big and heavy stuff on my 54! ha ha, just kidding. You won't miss the job, just the people as was my case and I've been out 14 years now. Bruce0

Wise choice sir , When they asked me if I wanted an early out (after 31-1/2 years) they didnt need to ask twice .
You wont regret it I'm sure,

Congratulations!
You make me think there's still some hope!0 -
Congratulations and here's wishing you long and happy retirement. We can only hope herself has misplaced that list of "honey do;s" that she's been writing up for the past 15 or more years. As some have said in the begining you will find yourself busier than ever. I got caught in that trap for about 5 years and finally said "to heck with it". If it don't get done, it don't get done - ain't gonna worry about it no more. Works well.
Best of luck.

Congrats Jim, I retired 8 years ago and have loved every minute of it. You will enjoy it for sure. Always something to do on the cars. Good luck for many years to come. Richie.0

Good for you Jim!
I am also retiring tomorrow after 37 year and 7months.
It's 3 years sooner than I had planned, but it's all good.
Enjoy your time!!

The only problem with being retired, is that you never get a day off! Congratulations to both of you. Someone told me the other day that you need to get everything that you want to do done while you are working because you won't have the time to do it after you retire. Figure that one out.0

Most of us Hudnuts are lucky - we have a great interest to occupy our time. All to often people are so wrapped up in the daily grind they don't have anything put aside when the retire. My sisters husband retired about a year ago, at age 60. No hobbies, nothing to do. Lasted 6 months and went back to work again.

Good decision! I retired at 52, 8 years ago from a very stressful job. Since I find myself lucky, I volunteer a lot in my community. It's my way of giving back some of my time. My problem is, I don't have time to work on my car... When I retired, I threw away my agenda... But now I use my HET calendar cause my eyesight is not as good as before.. And I can put more things to do on it...It never ends...Lion's Club, committee for this, committee for that...Have to run...San Mateo here I come! Good Luck! Michel0

Best to you Jim! Someday I too will get there! Wishing you MANY happy years ahead!!0

Be an interesting survey to see how many of us are retired.. Also has implications for the HET Club & it's future!!
I retired in 2005 having sold the business I spent all my working career building.0 -
Walt retired from his car dealer ship, selling hudsons as a sub dealer, and his repair business in 1978, moved to florida and ended up as an AMC man at at 5 car dealer ship, retired again in 1993, moved to CA to rebuild my daughter's 53 hornet and here I am today busier than ever working and doing Hudson parts at age 92 and don't see any retirement in the near future. I guess my next retirement will be the last.0

Retired 9 years ago from 50 years of engineering and became bored. Don't have that much interest in Hudsons anymore, just have them because of family tradition since 1922. Found a part time job at CARQUEST and having more fun than I did doing engineering for 50 years. Don't make much money, government takes half and whats left I buy car parts for my Hudsons and other vehicles. Best of luck on your retirement.0

From a retirement newsletter.
I like getting up and not having to go to work. I like so well, I do it two or three times a day.
Retired 11 yrs. Hud0 -
Congrats! I retired 4 years ago after 47 years as auto mechanic.
So many places to go and so little money, but every day is Saturday !0 -
Congratulations. I retired a year ago at age 60 from being a prosecutor for 25 years. Best move I've made in years, other than buying my old cars. Less money, but a it's worth it to just to get away from the stress, not to mention how much my golf game has improved. Enjoy.

Seems to me this employment thing is backward. We work for 40 years of so, have the money to do things and go places, but work gets in the way and we can't do what we really want to do.
So we retire. Now we have the time to do things and go places, but don't really have the money!!!
Now we are in the golden years - translated means we get the years and the doctors get the gold.
What's wrong with this picture.
