Check with Dale Cooper @ Ace Auto Parts, 7444 Vine @ Paddock Streets, Cincinnati OH 45216 (513) 821-6200. Dale has the new style rear seal available plus any other new engine parts you might be in need of.

THE CHRYSLER SEAL WORKS YOU CAN GET IT AT NAPA AND IT'S ABOUT 1/3 THE MONEY 1 1/2 SHAFT 383 ENGINE IF I REMEMBER RIGHT
  • Thanks for the help guys now I need a little more help, is there a way to know if it's the main bearing seal or the bearing cap oil seal. are those seals available also?

I THINK YOUR TALKING ABOUT THE SAME THING REAR MAIN SEAL IS PART OF THE REAR MAIN CAP YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE DOWN THE REAR MAIN CAP TO GET AT IT
  • A messy job getting the pan bolts out, and you'll need to rotate the crank just right to pull the pan, but no need to undo motor mounts or steering links. Figure on about 4 hours+ depending how hard it is to pull out the old rope packing. We had to use some small brass rod to displace the old packing as it disintegrated on the corkscrew. Used it like a punch as it wrapped around the crank / upper seal groove, then pulled it back out. You may want to make a "puller" for the brg cap out of 1" angle iron to jack it out of the block. Drill it to roughly match the oil pan bolt holes, use a stack of washers between the block & angle iron to position it off the block, then use two pan bolts into the brg cap to pull it out of the block. Repeat the process with longer block bolts and more washers as needed.
    Good luck!
