Hudson Grille
Chris Smith
Expert Adviser
I spent the day assembling my core support and grille assembly. Had all the parts powder painted and polished some time ago. The polished parts were wrapped in newspaper dated 2008. Its taking me forever to restore this car.

Looks beautiful, Chris! Sometimes life just goes that way where our projects end up taking longer than expected, or even planned. I started my current 2-1/2 year project back in the spring of '07 and we are hoping to have it completed in the spring of '14.
BUT, if you work on it just a little bit every day and continue making positive progress, eventually it WILL be completed.
Your grille assembly looks beautiful!0 -
yep, I learned that if I think small projects to complete on the car that it's not so overwhelming. One thing I have not done is keep an expense list, I know I will have spent twice what the going value is when Im done and Ive done most everything myself except a about 3 thousand of sublet labor ( rust repair with bent metal) and machine shop labor at John Edwards Costa Mesa R&D. Next week Im going to start painting If the temp drops down to double digits.0

They look good Chris. You know that they would fit great on my 54..... Well, a few years and I should be there (or perhaps over the winter if it snows enough? Anyway, we should be seeing some photos by September when you have the grill assembled on your car?0

Very nice!
Do the vertical stripes on either side of the center medallion get a red pinstripe?0 -
I've not seen that done before, but I think it would look neat. Good Idea Guy0

Very nice work! Will keep these pictures for future references...When I bought my 54 ,four years ago, I had a two year plan...that I've not begun yet...Bought a house because of the big garage... had problems with a tennant who paid only 3 weeks of rental and disapeared...Took nearly 7 months to repair and renew the appartment... All the money for my restoration went there...have a garage..No more money...But just to sit and look at the project makes me feel already good...Michel0

54SuperWasp - don't feel too bad...my "2 year project" is on now ticking passed the 8 year plan due to chronic "LIFE" isssues - too much time, not enough money...when I had money, not enough time
I did however scratch my itch by buying the 51 Hornet rat-rod..at least its something to get me by for now.
Someday I will have a Hudson that doesn't get you covered in rust just going out to Look at it!0 -
An hour a day and a hundred bucks a month is my plan for my 54. Today, I pulled the back driver side panel off. It was original and had never been removed. It came off in small dry-rotted parts. Not sure how long this project will take, but I find I do everything myself and really enjoy the process. I am blessed because I have other cars I can drive while I "futz."0
