Please can anyone help a friend of mine over here in England (he's a member of the Railton Owners Club) ?
He owns a 36 Terraplane but it's minus a spare wheel.
Here are pics of one of his wheels.
Has anyone got one like it they'd be prepared to sell him ? If so, please can they send me private message or post a reply to this thread ?
He can't locate one through the ROC and would be quite happy to pay whatever is the shipping cost from the US.

Here's something to try if you don't find anything else.

What can be used as a spare presumably depends on whether the spare is visible or not. If its not visible the standard 36 wheel looks very much like the ones on your 35 except they are 5 stud, and will be readily available.

If it has to be a 36 wire they are much more scarce.

Dan Morgan in Salt Lake City, Utah ( 801 265 9514 or Cell 801 865 5729) Has two of them on an old trailer in his back yard. I went down to get them last week and I needed 17's and these are 16's. Give Dan a call I am sure you can work out a deal.

Thank you all very much for the replies.
My ROC friend will follow them up. If he can't get a wire wheel, an artillery will do because it's stored out of sight on his car.
Just one final question - what year would you say the wheel in the pics is ? The car is a '36 but I'm not certain if the wheels on it are originally for a '36 - I thought '36 were 4 stud and this wheel is 5 stud.

I'm not an expert on 35/36 wheels (but I'm learning quickly). 35 is the last of the 4 stud wheels and mechanical brakes, 36 is the first year for 5 stud wheels and hydraulic brakes. Hubcaps are different too and won't interchange.

1936 Hudson & Terraplane used 16" artillery wheels in the US, not sure what they used in the UK?

This is the 36 wheel from My English built Hudson. It is a 600X15 five hole pattern.

That's interesting Brownie, I had heard that 15" wheels were supplied for some models and markets in 36.
When you have a wheel off sometime can you measure the diameter of the wheel centre please? I'm curious if the same centre was used for 15" and 16" wheels.

This is a photo of the back of a 36 16" wheel, the centre measures 13 5/16" across.

"MY BAD Bob", my post has a typo error within it. My wheels are 16's not the 15 that it states in my post.
