Old Dealership New Old Cars

Its not Hudson but its cool enough for everyone to drool over. Old dealership shutup for years. Opened for sale of cars in auction and find many cars they never sold over the years stored in the back some with 1 mile on odometer. I expect when this auction roles you will see a lot of high rollers picking up the original cars.

Too bad it's not a Hudson Dealership! Still pretty cool, but those cars are gonna still need a complete going through to be operable. Seems like they could have taken a little better care of their "investment".

No exercise of moving parts for 4-5 decades is not a good thing!

Yes they will need some love. They have a listing of the cars from the other buildings. Same old story the old guy did not want to sell so sitting in the dark collecting dust was preferable to good people looking after them and driving them. Never understand that mentality its close to 500 vehicles when you add it all up. Anybody here driving 500 cars?

I don't think any of them is equipped to run todays gas so there's going to be one expense - changing gaskets and seals. Just to start with. Wonder how many will get screwed up because the new owner forgot that little detail.

Lots of potential here, priceswill be interesting. I feel most of theses "new" cars belong in a museum. Hopefully who ever buys any of these cars will treasure it. To bad it was not a Hudson dealership, must be Hudson dealers had a different mentality. I once heard of a Dodge dealer somewhere in California that had been closed for many years with brand new Dodges on the showroom floor that dated to the early fifties. It will be interesting to see the prices that thses vehicles bring.

Not a museum... These all need to be on the road. What a neat thing for those who love the old cars. The only cool thing about these cars is that they have little or now road time. Since these did not sell when they were new, I do not expect there to be any "highly desirable" cars in the bunch. They will all be road cars. Because they are low on road time I expect that those selling them will expect big prices. Would be fun to see them go at a no reserve auction. As some have said before, new or not new, these are 40 to 60 year old cars, they will need a bit of work to put them back on the road.

Paul , on another forum they have a lottery to guess what the truck will sell for.
Most are in the $60k to $90k range. A lot of money for a truck with roof damage

I would like to be able to go and just walk the the presale inspection.
    Just too far for that!!
  • I would like to buy the building and preserve it. Though it would quickly be outfitted with Hudson signs, cars and memorabilia. The days of the local garage are gone. Nowadays you take your car to an overpriced bunch of idiots who treat you like crap. If you have a problem they are scratching their heads to find a computer port. Could not diagnose a problem to save their life. I grew up in a garage where real cars came in and real people fixed them. We knew our customers and treated them like gold.

There has to be an interesting story to go with the roof damage on that Cameo pickup. That must have been one very successful dealer to be able to get one of the 300 1953 Corvettes, the dealers only got the ones left over after the "specially invited" people like movie stars bought the ones they wanted.

They should've had Barrett Jackson come in to do the auction. Their people certainly wouldn't have done things like setting hubcaps on pristine original paint!
