Temperature sensor needed ( HH 52)

Hi Guys, A friend of mine had his motor rebuilt and it seems that the temperature sensor installed would not be the right one. What do you think? And if it's the wrong one, who would have it? Maybe in San Mateo? Thanks, Michel
The car is a 1952 Hudson Hornet.

Michel,
If it's not working at all maybe he used too much thread sealant and the sensor is not grounded. Looks like he has quite a bit on there.

So, does it means he has the right device but that it was not installed the proper way? I will transfer your answer. Thanks John, Michel0

Michel,
Have him hold a small piece of wire on the brass sending unit housing and a head bolt, see if the temperature gauge shows a reading with the engine warm. If it does then the sending unit is not properly grounded.

Thanks for this trick! Michel0
