door pillar I.D. tag replacement stamping

Any suggestions or club members who stamp the vin# on the reproduction I.D. tags? I couldn't help myself from removing the old one before I paint the body and jams on my 54. It would have looked bad to try and tape off the tag and it was not perfect to begin with.

I took mine to a machine shop, which had a variety of sizes. Got a decent match to the original.0

I have an original from a 1-C jet. That's a 1053. E-mail if interested. Walt.0

What do you use to reattach it?0

Originally, there was screw-type nails that held it in place, i.e., twisted nails that "screwed" in as you hammered them home.0

The last time I replaced one, I bought a set of rivets from a Model A Ford supplier. They were as Russell says, "drive rivets". Ford attached a data plate to the firewall with them.0
