Can anyone post a picture or discribe what and where the dip stick is on a 52 hh duel range hydo, Is it on the left side of the trans. Is it a hand unscrew or does it take a wrench. Thanks JOHN

  • John the dip stick is on the right hand side of the transmission as it appears inside the car. There should be a small hole plug where you can pry that up and the dip stick should be right underneath it.It is located on the passenger side on the 'slope' of the transmission hump underneath the blower box assembly. It has a loop to pull up upon.

Dip stick is located under the right side hump of the floorboards. Raise the floor covering materiel on the passenger side and there is an access opening near the top of the hump and under that is the diip stick.

I have a 53 Hydro. What is involved in order to use an engine bay dipstick? Do I need the pan from the 55/56 Hydro? What modifications are required? I would like to do this on my 53.
    Thanks! Joe

  • The manual calls for 8qts. for a fluid change. How many qts if you do not drain the torque converter?

  • Put 4 in will be putting a few miles on it tonight. and recheck Thanks

I wonder if a similar era Olds or Pontiac would have a useable pan and dip stick?
