Adjusting 308 Hornet valves
I had a friend come over to listen to my Hornet engine and we noticed a puff of air comming out of the front twin h carb and the longer it run the more it backfired out the exhaust pipe. Will it be hard to remove the passenger side inner fender panel to adjust the valves . Walt I need your help. Hudsonly Ray

The inner planel comes out pretty easy. Adjust your valves cold at intake .014 and exhaust .017, using new feeler gauges. Sure hope you do not have a burnt intake valve. Pull a compression test, should be at least 80 in all cylinders. Walt.0

Thanks Walt I only run the engine a few times for a short time. I hope every thing is alright.

Should be able to see a bounce on a vacuum gauge too. Might want to try and narrow it down by pulling plug wires one at a time while its running and see if you lose some of the gauge flutter. Either way your still going to have to check the valve lash.0
