Hudson Transmission question
I am gathering info to start work on a 52 Wasp. Seems like someone posted about the Supermatic drive having a lower 1st gear than the regular standard transmission had. If so, wondering if I can change the gear out in this 52 (yes I know it is a double lever trans) for one that the Supermatics used as I understand some of the innards will change between the double and single lever tranny?

You probaly could but would it be that much of a difference ?

It might make a difference if you have changed the rear ratio to 3.36 or 3.08.
Easier to get it moving.0 -
yes, thinking about going to a 3:36 rear gear0

don't know that supermatic used a different 1st, I think drive master did. but drivemaster would have had a 4.10 behind it and the supermatic a 4.56 so a lower low would help out there. I would think the od would be useless in that combo even with a 308. in od final drive ratio 2.35:1 (4.10 with od is about 2.87 and its a comfortable ratio).
not sure how many internals would swap between the hudson single lever and the borg double. if i recall ratios are different between the two on the regular transmissions. if you find the single that has the right ratio for you, find the column parts and swap the whole thing, it will be much easier and you'll know the parts work together.
