1946 Super Six photos/info
Hi All,
I am new to the forum but have been reading lots of past post for information on my own restoration. I have a 46' Super six, three speed manual I've been working on for some time now but I have run into a few problems. I dismantled the entire car for the purpose of doing a frame up restoration and now some time has past and I don't remember exactly how some things go back together #-o . I have been trying to find photos of complete engines, transmissions on Google but have come up mostly empty. I need to find info/pictures for the gas pedal to carburetor linkage, transmission linkage. Any links to close up pictures someone may know of would do wonders for me. Thank you

Some of what you are looking for, at least regards the engine, will probably be found in the 1945-1947 Group Parts book in the online library @:

Yes, the library is invaluable.
Another thought is to take photos of any "mystery components" you may have, and then post them here so we can I.D. them.
Most helpful of all, would be to find someone in your area with a car similar to yours, who would be willing to let you inspect the car, crawl under it, take photos of it. And then come back in a few weeks to do it again, when you run into another problem. Photos are nice, but there's nuthin' like the real deal.
Where are you located? Maybe someone at this forum has a '46-7 Hudson and lives near you.
If you are in the Club of course, you can simply consult your roster and see who, in your area, has such a car. Another thought is to contact the person who maintains the registry for the '46-7's and ask him/her for the names of nearby owners.0 -
The library link helps with all I was looking to see right now I have seen this book before but it must have been a copy of a copy because the pictures were very dark and you really couldn't see the details.
I am located in Nova Scotia, Canada. Unfortunately there seems to be very few Hudson's around here, only two others that I have known of and both were not original drivetrain. I haven't joined any local clubs, not that they have any Hudson's in them anyway, I'd just like to be able to drive to meets in my car before I join ha-ha.
I am looking for some advice on the steering gear.....the shaft adjusting screw leaks oil like crazy when I fill it and I'm stumped as to what is best to use to replace whatever was there to seal it before, as I'm sure you know it is an oddly shaped bolt with a grove cut into it for the lock plate.
Maybe I am missing a piece?
Thanks
Paul

The roster shows a 1946 pickup truck owner in Tupperville, NS. Near Fredericton in New Brunswick there is another member with a '46 pickup. These would have the same basic running gear, suspension, steering etc. as the passenger cars.

I will have to look into trying to get a hold of the local pickup owner . Thanks0

super 46 welcome to the forum. what part of nova scotia are you located. I live in Dieppe N.B and have a 53 super wasp which I have just finished restoring. a lot of Hudson parts or ideas were carried around for years. there is no better place to obtain information than from the members of this forum, weather looking for parts or for information on how to assemble something, or get it working properly they are always available to assist. I have spoken to the fellow in Fredericton some years ago and cant lay my hands on his info at the moment.

I am in Windsor. About 40 minutes outside Halifax. The small bits and pieces seem to be the hardest to find but I can usually find something universal at the automotive store to make things work.0
