53 Hupcaps
Hopefully my 53 Hornet will be on the road shortly. I went to put on the hubcaps that came with the car and lo and behold there are 2 different types. I have 2 that are stainless (except for the attachment ring). the other 2 are chrome plated steel. Were the chrome plated caps original for 53? I also have a 3rd stainless hubcap but it does not have an attachment ring so it is pretty much useless.

Do both types have the red triangle in the center?0

Different hubcap suppliers to Hudson used different methods to make them.0

Two piece center cap and trim ring.0

Only one of the chrome plated had the red triangle. The others do not show any sign as to triangle being painted before. I will paint them now.0

What is a good match to red used in triangle color wise?

Another method to insert the red triangle is to go and get adhesive-backed red-colored vinyl from a hobby supply store and cut your own. Easier and quicker than painting.
WRP might be carrying these as well. Worth a shot to check with them.0 -
Many Hudsons have Chrome on the front hubcaps , and the Stainless ones in the back.
Hard to tell there is a difference with the skirts on.0 -
Might check the HET club store I think they had the triangle stickers,

As I remember the 51s were the last Hudsons to have chrome hub caps. The Korean war made chrome scarce and the 52 had stainless as well as different chrome in the grill and elseware.0
