I am in the process of restoring a 52 wasp sedan and need to find a green two tone picture to compare to one painted solid green.

Russ, thanks for those pics! Being as dark green is probably the hottest color you can go with on the top, I am trying to steer the owner toward the dark Naples green on bottom and Boston Ivory on top. The wasp is in Fl.

You might consider cream ( Boston Ivory ) on the bottom and harness tan top. I had a 53 Hornet coupe
with that combo , and got more positive replies than any car I had.
My opinion is , there are way to many green step downs.
I've had people comment they thought that was the only color came in , '53-'54
But that's not what your original post asked. LOL

Since this is now a free for all, I have added a photo of my 52 with the black top. I loved this combination. Also, it worked well with the racing stuff....
  • HERES MY 53 WITH THE CREAM ON BOTTOM AND DARK GREEN TOP. AND ANOTHER PICTURE WITH GREEN AND WHITE.

    lostmind,
funny you should say that about green, I told the lady that owns it the same thing! I've seen more original Hudson's and 53-54 Studebakers in green than any other color.
But she insist on the dark green (Naples green).
I might consider doing my 53 Super Wasp coupe in the colors you mention, does sound like a nice combo.
  • My '53 Super Wasp in two tone green.

Dan , that looks good. Might change my mind on green stepdowns.
Makes a difference over the solid color.

It's more important what the owner likes and wants. That is what will make her happy. Anything else will look good. She might be persuaded to like what you like but may not be as happy with it.

Just a thought from someone that was persuaded to someone elses opinion and not really satisfied, because it wasn't the way I really wanted something done. It would be better to make her happy.

Lee, I agree, ultimately it is the customers choice. The point is to get some pictures in front of her so she can make an informed decision.
I'll paint it any color she wants and do it to the best of my ability.

This brings up another question. Some of the pictures show the top color on the upper door post and some stop before getting to the door sections.
Did Hudson do it both ways?

I believe the top color was applied from the belt line up on '53s. That's the way they are shown in the dealer presentation manual. In '52, they are shown both ways - just above the drip rail and then also belt line up on models without the heavy stainless trim (Com 6 & Wasp) and drip rails up on Hornet & Com 8 with the heavier stainless trim at the top of the doors.
