Spacers

When I installed my like new Kelsey - Hayes wire wheels on the front of the '56 Hollywood, the tires are rubbing against the tie rod ends when I turn. The ones on the back work fine. Bill Albright once told me that he often had the same problem with his wire wheels on stepdowns, and that he used spacers, and that took care of it. Stockton Wheel used to carry them, but the owner is deceased and the business was sold. The new owners only carry new wheels and nothing else. Anyone know where I can obtain spacers for these wheels?

A lot of sources for these. You will need the bolt pattern and thickness of the spacer needed.0

If 1/4" would do it, the spacers I have for the disk brake kits should work. They are laser cut from steel. You would need to drill the pilot hole for the alignment stud, I assume 56 still had those? They sell for $30 a pair, shipping should be pretty cheap.

Bolt pattern is the same as for stepdowns. Chrysler also has the same bolt pattern. To clear the tie rod ends, might need about an inch.
Thanks everyone for your advise!0 -
Well, bought some spacers from Summit today. Quarter inch. Wonder if smaller tires would help too. Have L78-15's on now which really ride nice. The wire wheels on the front now perform well and fit perfect, but they need to be re-chromed as they have been painted silver. It would probally cost a fortune to re-chrome them. Also if I put diamondback radials on, wouldn't they be wider and rub more?0
