I am looking for a few of the star-shaped "keepers" (for lack of a better description) placed on the studs to secure the intake and exhaust manifolds to the block.

I'm not sure if Hudson's used brass nuts originally but I am using them when I get to that point. I was advised to only use brass nuts on my Kaiser engine to keep the manifolds from cracking. Why that is, I don't know for sure. The Kaiser engine has a similar method of attaching the intake and exhaust manifolds to the block and what the hell, I have a whole box of them and it couldn't hurt.

Goes with the territory! The definition of "junk" - something you store for years then throw away the week before you realise you need it.
