I DON'T GET IT
Why would someone even bother to bid as low as this?
It obviously would never be sold at such a ridiculous price and it's probably insulting to the seller.
Just goes to show the intelligence or lack there of that abounds in e bay

That is the way eBay works. The current high bidder may have placed a much higher bid, but it won't show up until someone else bids against them. So I get that. If you know the car though, you know it needs restored. The pictures make it look slick until you get to the interior pictures. The glossy photography can't hide it there. The marketing hype and no mention of it's real condition is what I don't get.0

"insulting to the seller"...when did that EVER matter? Regardless of who the seller is, it's all a part of the deal. If you're marketing that car in that condition for that price, you better have thick skin.0

Sometines an Ebay auction begins at 99 cents! Somebody could bid that amount, knowing a lot of guys will put more. Many years later, that man will say: '' I once bid on an Italia!'' just to put it in the conversation and look at others jalous reaction...lol Michel0

I UNDERSTAND THE COMPLETE BIDDING PROCESS OF E-BAY..I WAS JUST MAKING THE POINT THAT WHY EVEN BOTHER MAKING A REDICULOUS BID IN THE FIRST PLACE.....IT WOULD BE ABOUT AS STUPID AS GOING INTO A HOUSE THAT WAS UP FOR SALE FOR $499,000 AND MAKING AN OFFER OF $100,000
DUHHHHHH0 -
Hey, the seller started this Italia at $1,000. He left the process open to all the naive and all the dreamers who think his B-I-N of $499,900 is a pipe dream. He may have wanted to generate lots of hobby chatter about the car because of the low-bids or have wanted the large number of eventual bids to make the car look hot as a Hatch, NM green chili. Whatever. Its his auction and as some have pointed out, he could have started it at 99 cent. And if he had, I've got a $5 bill burning a hole in my pocket. I can dream too, can't I? The ebay process works EXTREMELY WELL for buyers and sellers. If I had one or two days of ebay's commissions I could Buy It NOW !0

My experience is price it high to start with and the bids you get is a good indicator of market value. Sure is easy to decide to keep a car that you thought was a big buck car and all you get is a low ball bid.0

I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH ON RECENT ITALIA SALES..LOOKS LIKE THE RANGE WAS BETWEEN AROUND 250k-400k...
THIS CURRENT E BAY ITALIA IS ALSO LISTED ON A FEW OTHER WEB SITES SO THE SELLER IS LISTING IN OTHER PLACES TO TEST THE WATER0 -
A difficulty with this car is figuring what extra value there is in it's being the prototype. The owner, of course, believes that merits a significant premium.0

I also noticed in Hemmings that there is a "Concourse" winning Italia for sale.0

You can buy two for less than a MILLION DOLLARS!! WOO-HOO!! Why buy 1 ugly-ass car when you can get two for twice the price?
Sorry. I don't get it . . . obviously.0
