1933 Terraplane 8 carburator needed
Hey guys, looking for some help; I'm trying to round up the last few items I need to get my Terraplane back together. I have two W1 carbs that I thought were correct for it, but as I studied them I realized they are not the correct ones. They may work, but the linkage is not correct and I have not idea what kind of jetting they have.
What is the best way to identify the correct carb?
Does anyone have a spare carburator or know someone who does?
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Thanks Mark. I have two W1s that are similar but have different linkages, chokes, etc. I assume there are jetting differences as well?0

Hi Matt, I can post some pictures of mine too if this may help, unfortunately I've no spare :-S0

If I were you, I'd talk to Walt Mordenti; I'd bet he has the info on which carb is original, and what ones can be substituted, and can rebuild with proper jets, etc. etc.0

The 1933 8 cylinder motors takes Carter W-1 model #261s and on the base surface it should be stamped #72. That is the only Carb listed for Terra 8, and it's a hand choke model. Walt.0

Ok, mine are stamped "55" and the other is stamped " 1 star 4".
Any idea what there are from? Bummer, I that I had that problem licked but the hunt is on.
Daytona offered me one of their universal ones...0 -
Here are some pics that may help. The first 3 are from my car but kind of hard to see as it was dark in there, the next are 2 carbs that I believe are 33, the one on the right is an old rebuild and the box says 33t6, the one on the left I do not know for sure but the linkage looks right. The next pic is with what I think are a 34 and a 35 and the final is that pair there is a difference in the choke set up between the 2. The body in the 33 does not have about 5-6 patent numbers on it I believe as well where as the 34-5 does. Does this help? Mark0
