You can avoid having special radio equipment made if you install a 6-volt to 12-volt power "Inverter". You can also get one that changes the polarity from - to + at the same time.

Thanks Roger... I want to try and keep everything as original as I possibley can. The redirad plugs right into the original am stereo where the antenna goes and then the antenna to an adaptor witch still keeps the am radio 100% functional, however as far as the sounds I just want somthing that sounds much better than just the 6x9 in the dash. I have read mix reviews on the inverters have you tried any yourself that work well?? Below is a link of the amp I would use however I have no knowledge on electrical stuff. I would run 4 total 6x9s one on each front door, one in the dash, and one in the rear. Let me know what u guys think.

Only thing you have to be carefull of in replacing the speaker in the dash is the depth of the speaker. Too large of a magnet or too deep of a basket and you won't be able to screw the spkr grille down. There's not much clearance between the top of the radio and the spkr. The Redi- Rad is a good unit and doesn't cost an arm and a leg , very simple to install. These units run between $100.00 and $150.00.0

As far as the number of speakers you want to run off the radio, with 4 6X9 speakers you'll lose a little bit of volume and you might have a heck of a time mounting 6X9;s in the doors. It'd be a lot easier to use some good quality 5 or 6 in spkrs I the doors.0

Thanks for the input Marconi I am going to measure it where there is a big empty space at the very bottom of the doors with the window rolled down completeley.0

There was a factory rear speaker option so I'm sure two would be no problem. As far as the inverters go I ran one to my cigarette lighter so I can charge a cell phone. Worked fine ,I would make sure to get one heavy enough to run the load you have. Another option to consider might be a 12-volt alternator and a battery with a center tap to give you 6-volts for the lower voltage accessories
