Electric Engine Fan Thermostat
Down here in So Calif, and just had an electric engine fan installed, along with A/C, in my '54 Hornet. The thermostat that is supposed to turn the fan on & off automatically doesn't come on until the temp is up around 195. It was installed in the block drain-hole down by the starter. I like to keep the temp 170-180, and usually this is no problem. The car runs cool without the fan, until we get into traffic, then I switch it on with a manual-override switch, and the temp stays below 200....Would like to have it work automatically. Any suggestions ?

I have one that I haven't installed yet, and I think the kick-in temperature is adjustable. If you don't have a similar feature, you're probably out of luck. Unless you can get the fixed-temp units with different temperature settings, like thermostats.0

Thanks. Ron Francis offers a unit that comes on at 180 and goes off at 170, but they want
$80 for it. They say the unit needs to be located in the head......Guess I can try to find out more from the installer....0 -
There are many such switches which are adjustable for the temperature of your choice. Just look on Summit, Jegs, or any number of other sites.0

rbennett47 - I installed a electric fan control in in a Hornet a while back. The senser was put in the upper rad. hose and the temp. was adjustable. It was relative inexpensive ($20 to $30 I think). I think I got it from AutoZone. Herm0
