HUDSON HOLLYWOOD HARDTOP

Those #'s for HLWYDs and Cvt's. are more or less lost. These days there are accepted "approximates" for '51 and '52 being in the 2k range. #'s for '53 and '54 are "Unknown". If I had to make an educated guess, I would say that '53 is probably slightly less than '54's, due to the '54 year being a "re-vamped" model.
Usually what I tell most folks is that concerning HET products, "They're all rare!".0 -

I HAVE A CHANCE TO PICK UP A 53 HOLLYWOOD THAT NEEDS RESTORATION IT IS RUSTY BUT COMPLETE WITH TWIN H POWER AND DUAL RANGE AUTO.0
-
I would run don't walk, with your trailer, wallet/cashiers check in hand, and drag that baby home.
Hollywoods very rare. No matter how much rust you see. If your not my age 80, you got plenty of time to bring that baby back to life......0 -
Like Hudson Grandpa said, they are not making them anymore. Some are rare enough or so desirable that the fact the vehicle is rusty does not matter. Ask Large Paul about his "love affair" with Baby. Only you know what fits your emotional and economic situation. As Uncle Josh says...if it casts a shadow and it's a Hudson, it is a restoration candidate.0

I stopped by Bill McCracken's place on our way back from Niagara Falls a couple of weeks ago. Since he passed away the family has been cleaning up his stuff and are eager to move the Hudson and other makes since there is little interest on their part. There are quite a few interesting vehicles right outside Horseheads NY, near Elmira. One of these is a '52 Hollywood with Twin H, supposed to be a 7X per his son Corey. It is pretty rusty on the outside but if one wanted a Hollywood the '52s are pretty darn nice. I could not get underneath, although this one was not sunk down to the frame so may be OK. If interested you can call Corey at Six-O-Seven-four-2-Six-9-two-eight-seven. I will post some of the other stuff on another thread.
Per the daughter-in-law. If you want something it needs to be out by the end of Nov. since snow and bad weather will stop anything until probably March or April.

compared to some of I have seen its almost ready to hit the road. Rare car difinitly something to restore if you have the means.0

I got my 51 2 door hardtop in 1964. according to the older members lol they were not called Hollywoods until 52. It is my understanding that the 51s were only made in the month of Sept. 51and my serial number confirms that mine was made in September. I don't loose any sleep over mine being called a Hollywood but 51s have to be very rare. I guess I am asking if this is all true what I have posted. PS I payed a whopping 45 dollars for mine and drove it home from a pasture with Hogs living under it. Someone had jacked up the back end and they had made under the car their home. AHH for the good old days.

Check with Uncle Josh, he had a 51 Hornet "hardtop" with a bit of a roof dent For Sale too. That car is also in NY.0
-
this was my 1st Hollywood, a '51 Hornet. I consider it quite rare as it came with o.d. not Hydramatic.
I sold it to a HET friend who eventually sold it to Albright. When I approached him as to whom he'd sold it he said he couldn't remember, LOL, as a few years later the owner, who lives in the S. F. Valley area of L.A. brought it back to Bill for a "touch up".0 -
A very nice '52 HH restored by a guy in L.A. now deceased; it's still in Calif.0
-
This is a very nice '53 HH I used to have. I bought it this way, has '56 engine, a very nice car.
Sold it to guy in Escondido, Ca. who still has it.0 -
Pete the 52 HH was sold by Larry Kennedy to Joe Bearden of Apple Valley California. He had the car restored . When Joe died of cancer the car was sold to Bill Albright had it for a while then peddled it. The car bounced around a bit and at last sighting was owned by a east coast HETer.0
-
OH, didn't know it had left the "left coast" ~
(knew Joe, he did a great job on it).0 -
And here it is. 308 single carb automatic. Located 50 mi N of Albany, NY
Make me an offer.0 -
Wow Uncle Josh what happened to this one? Were you figure 8 racing it a the fair?
Since it is in Albany maybe someone should buy both this one and the one in Horseheads to make one good one.0 -
The story is, that the shed it was in fell in so they got a fork truck to lift it off. That wrinkled the roof bent the top of the door and broke the windshield, but all the back glass is intact. Then they must have dragged it thru the woods hitting every tree. Guy called me from 10 mi up the road liquidating a guy's estate. It's really too good to scrap, as it still casts a shadow. Alex,
Do you happen to know how Sarah came up with her figure of 1,263 Hollywoods for 1954? Just curious, thanks.
