Jet Custom Convertible

While reviewing a Jan/Feb 1989 issue of the WTN found the following pictures of a custom Jet Convertible. Pictures are kinda grainy, but the essence of what the car was is shown. Does anyone know if this car still exists?

  • Looks like it may have used the 42-47 hood in back for a trunk. Neat idea if you had a jet with roof damage . Might even have a stepdown windshield ,

    THE CAR WAS MADE IN CARMICKELS PA. IN THE 60'S I HAVE SOME PHOTOS OF IT FROM BACK THEN AS THEY ARE JUST LIKE THEM I DO NOT THINK THE CAR STILL AROUND THE SAME MAN TOOK A JET ENGINE AND INSTALLED IT IN A 37 UT COUPE WITH A HYDROMATIC I'TS NOT AROUND EITHER

    There are similar stories of many Kaiser Henry J compacts being built into convertibles for dealers around the country, and others by home customizers. A few of those exist.

    If the manufacturer wouldn't deliver a certain body style out of their catalog, the aftermarket would build it for someone. All it takes is money and time and desire.
