empire motors inc
I see empire motors inc is advertising in the WTN has anyone purchased and received heads from these guys? if so good/bad.
I was watching a post years ago saying they paid but never received anything. It would be awesome to be able to
get some new heads for these motors.
Has anyone talked to Clifford 6=8 lately do they still do any runs on heads?
thanks,
Dan

Clifford still does Hudson stuff (heads, headers, etc.) but do not advertise the fact. Jack's son is very much interested in carrying on the tradition, but you have to call and talk to them.0

Maybe Clifford knows of a casting company that would cast the R&C head?0

Note back from Pacific Cast Products-----
I have a head I could sacrifice for the project.
We need to see Randy's dyno results to see if the head performs as designed before going further.
Hi Kerry,
We currently make an overhead valve conversion head for a Model A engine for one of our customers. We’ve made finned aluminum flathead heads for the Ford V8 before. So, yes we can cast them.
Most of this kind of tooling, currently gets made from a CAD drawing. I can also make it from a sample, but we would cut up the sample in order to get measurements and would likely make our own CAD drawing to work from. It would also be nice to know the block cylinder spacing, bolt hole spacing, and other detail, just to be sure the head fits.
I am willing to make you one casting, or 1,000s. The tooling will run $5 to 10K, depending how you design the head. I would have to see the drawing or sample, and know the weight to determine casting price.
Thank you for your inquiry.

I think the club needs to get their hands on these castings if we get someone to cast for us. This way we don't have another run like the K-gap grill emblem deal.
Even if we had to get the stepdown guys to donate some money to pay for the castings I'm sure we could raise the money to do so. I think it would be worth it for the generations to come. What do you guys think?
We could have a vote what heads to target 308's, 254's,202's and find a company to create the casts for us then hopefully we can purchase some heads and when that company falls off the face of the earth we can just find another company to use our casts?
Maybe it doesn't work this way, but just an idea.0 -
I know Ivan was working on a new design aluminium head for the 254 some years ago, but I don't know what has happened since. Hudson seemed to believe in the late 40's that in the future the 254 could run on over 9:1 compression with the right fuel which of course would necessitate a new head to achieve the higher ratio.
Agreed, the ownership of the pattern needs to be HET people not the foundry. The stumbling block of the project no doubt is the upfront cost which is a fair bit.0 -
I have a foundry up in WI that my company works with that has done casting for car clubs in the past. If interested let me know.0

If they are ripping off people, why is their add still in the WTN?0
-
I was thinking the same thing. With this history of complaints, why would the HET Club continue to run the ads in the WTN?0
-
That's all been gone through before. Do a search for 'Empire Motors'.0
-
Just wondering why you couldn't file a claim and refuse payment to Visa; AE ect if the part is not delivered when promissed by Empire.0
-
I remember posts about Empire Motors and nothing good was said, but then when I seen the
ad in the WTN thought I might have missed something. We need to get that out of the magazine then so some other hudson guys don't get taken by this con-man.0
