'36 and '37 Terraplane grill compatibility

Hi guys, I'm new here although I've been lurking for a year or more. I dabble in Hudsons (currently own a '46 pickup and '51 Commodore) and just recently have possible made a deal with a gentleman who has a 1937 Terraplane....but, it has a '36 grill. The reason I think it is a '37 is based on the non-suicide doors and the dash. I was wondering how hard it would be to return it to the original grill...aside from locating one. Can a guy just change out the grill and shell without changing fenders, etc...?

below is a snapshot of my pickup

thanks, -E

Saw that red '37 T coupe advertised. Looked like a good one. Congrats. From all appearances, it appeared to me that just the grille shell assembly was changed and you should be able to do the reverse back to stock. While you may have to pay dearly for the '37 parts, the '36 parts coming off should recover the $$$.

  • Yep, it's that red one. He (admittedly) is asking too much for it. I am working on a straight across swap....my nash for his terraplane. I think his terraplane is worth more in terms of condition, but my nash is more rare.

that's good to know that just grille shell and what not are all that would have to be changed. I saw somewhere on the web a guy selling a couple of nice grille assemblies...wish I could track him down again.
