I need to rebuild the differential in my 53 hornet. Where might I find the parts?

    Any one needing a NOS carrier complete part number 307579 ..10 stud fine spline.

    Ring and Pinion 307564 45.11 ratio
    Ring and pinion 307567 50.11 ratio both New OLd Stock.

    Jim, that's a Dana 44 axle, used in both Fords and Chevys in years not long ago. Check with a dealer or NAPA.

    A bolt broke between the ring gear and the carrier. Apparently one or more gears are damaged because it makes a knocking sound. Walt said that the entire unit should be replaced (DANA 308 rear). I am looking for suggestions.

    People don't know this but the housing is the complete unit. All work must be done in the housing with the correct tools an info. Best to find a complete unit with the 308 ratio. Walt.

    I have the heavy Dana case spreader tool if you need to use it. Necessary to remove the gear cluster.

    Make sure you tell them not to spread it more than .020 thousands of an inch, because then the housing is ruined. Will not return to the original size, Walt.
