308 WATER INLET w/NO BYPASS vs INLET w/BYPASS

Just realized that this water inlet, part # 5325065-2, is not the original for 1954 308 ?

Maybe this one is for prior to 1950-51 ?

Question: the 1954 308 water inlet w/ thermostat came with the bypass, correct ?

So, it's best to replace this one with one w/bypass, correct ?

Ken, I might like to exchange it with you, but are the 55-56 more desirable for some reason or better cooling rationale ?

I am unsure on how to send you a private message, and thanks for the details on the head gasket. I found Stove Bright Silver (aluminum) up-to-1200 degree spray paint on thefind.com; do you know of a large department store that carries the spray paint ?

If you have an alum. head, it may or may not have the extra slot for the bypass. L Hud
