A note on that Dec. 2 column. Mention was made of Mike Elwell and his 1952 Super Wasp.
That brought a flood of memories. It was Mike that introduced me to the H-E-T club (at that time, in the early 70's I had '53 Hornet Sedan) and his Hudson was a 1952 Super Wasp Hollywood. It wasn't pretty but Mike loved that Hudson and drove it daily. I spotted it parked on Main Street in Kennebunk, ME, where I lived at the time, so I left a note under the windshield wiper - turns out he was across the street having dinner with his mother. Later that evening he appeared at my front door, with his mother, to visit and introduce me to the Hudson club. His mother was the type that dressed to the nines whenever she went out - I have fond memories of this lady sitting on the floor of our living room in all her finery playing with our little girl.
The rest, as they say, is history. Larry Wellman and Uncle Mike are, of course, gone now.
Thank you so very much for bringing back this memory for us, Pete.
