NAPA Belts

Napa part # 25-24515, when entered on to their website, shows two different belts. One is 3/4" wide and the other is
5/8" wide, but both have the SAME part number, 25-24515. Seems like a strange way to do things. Apparently the narrower belt has superceded the wider, but there are some of the wider belts still floating around. Again, even on their website, the belts have the same number. Moral: if you get a belt from NAPA, check the dimensions before leaving the store....Hudson pulleys are 7/8" anyway, but I thought it was worth passing along.

Thanks Ken. Yes, it does have A/C. The Vintage Air compressor pulley is described as being 3/4" wide, so will try the new belt, NAPA # 25-28510, which the label says is 7/8", but the computer says is 3/4+1/32". You are right about the shoulders. I inherited the previous belt, 25-24515, which has started slipping and has reached the limit of it's adjustment (measures at 5/8"). Will just try this new one and see if it works....Starting to feel that, for me at least, the less you "modernize" these cars, the better off you are. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the info with manufacturer, supplier & part numbers.
Where did you get the Alt & AC bracket?

  • Wow, great job on the research work Ken. I'm using Ed Mueller's combination compressor/alternator mount, and ended up with NAPA's belt # 28522, 7/8" X 52.88", and it seems to fit OK. Hopefully it will work out. Thanks for the tip about the Gates website.
