49 Parts needed and a question
I posted a list of a few miscellaneous parts I need for my 49 Super two door "resurrection". on the HET club forum..
Question... What is the difference between the parking brake linkage under the car between standard shift and a HydraMatic? I am converting this car to HD and the HD transmission is in the way of my standard linkage.

No one knows the difference in the parking brake linkages?0 -
Ken,
Thanks for the comments..The senile part and too many Hudsons, hits very close to home. I will explain later in another post....
I have the crossmember installed and even had the transmission installed. Engine running..but..The tranny turned out to be a dud and now is out for a rebuild. I have the parking brake handle and cable out of a 51 hornet that had a HD. It fits. When I bolted the 49 standard shift parking brake linkage into the car, I could not install the rod that goes forward and mounts in the crossmember. The transmission oil pan is in the way. A picture of the proper linkage would probably allow me to modify what I have or fabricate something similar. The parts book illustrations are no help..0 -
The 51 parts car I had did not have those parts.0

Ken-
I'm interested in what you find out, as well. The linkage is in the car, but now you are making me wonder if I installed the wrong linkage for use with the hydramatic. I mixed and matched parts when I was cleaning all those parts up.0 -
Since there seems to be a problem with people signing in to the HET site, I'll post my parts needs here. By the way, I haven't had any problems with the site other than it seems to have too many choices. I am simple minded.. LOL
These parts are for a 49 two door I am resurrecting from the dead. I got it as an empty rolling shell. Devoid of almost everything that could be stolen. striped or sold. It actually looks like a Hudson again!. These parts only need to be functional, not Mint nor N.O.S. Just something I can work with.
1. One "U" shaped bracket that holds a windshield wiper tower to the cowl.
2. One parking light shell only. I have everything to build one except the rectangular shell.
3. The chrome cover for the center grille vertical bar.
4. The cast chrome piece that is left of the steering column that the starter button goes in.
5. one grille louver stainless strip. any of the three lengths will do.
6. The small center piece that is at the bottom of the windshield inside the antenna wire goes through. One without the hole will be fine since I don't have a roof mount antenna.
7. deleted
8. deleted
9. The door woodgrain trim that mounts below the window trim on a Commodore coupe. both sides.
10. The U shaped bracket that holds the steering shaft up. One with the groove for the turn signal wire loom.
The bottom pic is before I bought it. The battery carrier, motor mounts as well as the original wheels all were gone when I got it.
Thanks Jerry (Jetman), for the parts you offered.0 -
