Just got back from Dr. Doug's and unloaded the engine this afternoon.

Before we left, we dropped the car off at the paint shop. We hope to have it back before Christmas and can drop the engine in place and start on the final assembly.

Looks good Russell, things are really coming together now. What color are you going to paint the body again?

The car and engine look a hell of lot better than the last time I saw them, what, 2, 3 years ago. You done yourself proud with that resto, Russell. You can afford to be proud of your work. Can't wait to see it.

Looking forward to seeing it in French Lick. What will you do with all of your spare time when you get the vert finished!

  • what a gorgeous car!
  • Gonna be a nice looking convertible Russell!! Is the sheet metal on for good now? It will be painted and then you start installing chrome, rubber and all the goodies? Will it be hard to drop the engine and tranny in with the front sheet metal installed?

Also wondering....with the engine and tranny weight out of the car, does the upper A-arms sit on the rubber bumpers? Sorry for all the questions. Please pat yourself on the back! You are doing a great job!! Bill

    Rick-

Unofficially, it's "Patsy" . . . because she came to me in pieces (think: "I Fall To Pieces"). Vicki's idea, and since I haven't added anything better, that might be it, but I'm not real fond of the name.

    John-
Well, eventually I'll want another project, but I need to recover from this one, first!

    Ken-
That's good news. Keep me posted.

    Bill-
    1. Front Fenders are going to come off one more time.
    2. Yes, final assembly is next, meaning all the brightwork, engine and tranny install and wiring.
    3. See #1. above., but still doable, even if the fenders were attached.
    4. Yes, and the front rubber brake hoses are almost at their limit, but not quite. I pretty much can't wait to see how much she is going to squat down with the weight of the engine and tranny installed. Will post pics when we get there.

I always tell folks, "Once it's painted, it's all downhill from there." The really fun part has started.

I'm thinking it looks more like a boy car. How about "Willie", the writer of that song? :)

I was thinking of a boy car, too. The first picture I ever saw of this car had a 6' Rabbit sitting behind the wheel. "Harvey" came to mind. Which, by the way, I've sort of been calling it, but I've had some really bad luck with boy cars in the past. I don't know . . . I'm on the fence.

I can tell you one thing for sure DON:T name your car after an Ex wife! LOL

SuperDave, that's right up there with getting the ex's name tatooed on your arm before she became the ex.

  • Any name but Patsy! That dang song has been banging around in my head since I saw your post yesterday. If I had a dollar for everytime I've heard that song, I would be able to afford a restored Hudson convertible. LOL
