Shock advice - opinion

I was wondering about this info on the Eaton Detroit Spring site about the difference between gas and hydraulic type shocks. I didn't realize hydraulic shocks were available for antique cars?
Great Pricing on QA1 Shocks

To complement our Leaf & Coil Springs, we offer the full line of QA1 Shocks. You'll find our prices are hard to beat.
Get the most out of your suspension by installing quality shocks.
Don't sacrifice a smooth ride by using old, worn out, or cheap shocks.
Get the best, use QA1.
Got an older vehicle? Been having trouble finding the right shock?
Don't use gas shocks. Gas shocks are horrible for older vehicles that were designed to use hydraulic shocks.
Gas shocks can add 75 Lbs. to the initial spring rate to each shock and will make it seem like you installed super stiff springs.

All applications are available in our online ordering system.

I asked about hydraulic shocks some time ago here on the forum and never got a source. I've since acquired a new set of gas shocks. It's nice to know that someone is still supplying the real deal.

Actually gas shocks are hydraulic shocks too. They're basically hydraulics with a modest charge of compressed gas instead of uncompressed air. No question that they do ride a bit stiffer, but I don't think the difference is as much as Eaton Detroit seems to imply.

I think they ride a little higher, too.

Yes, they do. Kind of a low-compression air shock.

Russ, Spoke to Glen Johnson a few minutes ago and he reminded me that we had taken a very close look at your convertible when it was in east Idaho. We were there buying a 49 coupe with a friend when we looked your car over. I am glad you bought it. I did not think that there was a chance it would ever be on the road again. Nice job.

Didn't know that, Brownie. I also stopped by Glen's house on the way back home to touch base with him, but that was a LLOOOONNNGGG time ago, now. It was actually west Idaho, in Weiser.

Sorry, we do not have the shock listings for a Hudson. I do not know where to get them.
