So I got a 29 Hudson 4 door. Thought I was going to "rod" it out but way to nice to do that to. So I thought id put it out there and see if any of you might be interested. The owner before me was well known Hudson collector John Soneff here in CO. He was having a ground up done on it. The frame is perfect and the wood rims are like new. Body is ready for paint. I have the seats, all are redone, the dash cluster that was calibrated. Door handles, windows, radiator, trunk, transmission, too many parts to list basically seems like 90 percent or +of the car. I'll try to post some pictures. Please tell me what you think its worth. Thank you

No idea of the value but you can google around and get an idea, I think. Glad you've decided to offer it for sale.

If you have a bit of time, we could probably get this into the next issue of the White Triangle News, which has 100% Hudson readership and more viewers than our Forum here. There would be no charge so long as you can get a Hudson club member to the ad (I assume that you yourself are not a Club member). I would be glad to do that. The next ad deadline is February 1 (we just passed the Dec. 1 deadline but if you hurry, they might possibly let you in for this next issue). My e-mail address is HETdetailed@verizon.net (drop the HET first) and I'll tell you how to list the car in the WTN.
  • The pic on my user file is it in Soneffs storage before I brought it to my shop.

It is almost impossible to put a price on what you have there. Two key elements we do not see is an engine and it would help to know the wheelbase. They had a short and long wheel base in 29 (122" and a 139"). The Vin number would also help. If you go with the Old Cars Weekly standard you are looking at about $2K for the 122" wb and about $3.5K for the 139 wb. These figures are just estimates and most likely not very good ones at that? Strong point is that the wood is done and the doors are hung. Do you have in mind how much you want for the car and also where are you located (transportation could be an issue).

I believe it's the longer wheel base, I'll check. Been told john spent thousands on doing the interior and just the cluster has a receipt for $1200. Does have a motor that was told rebuilt, it's a straight 8 still in the crate from canada. Not looking to rip anyone off , just like to get a fair price and see it go to someone that could do this right

Are you sure that the engine is an eight? I was given to understand that all 1929's were Super Sixes and that the eight was introduced in 1930.

Yes was told straight eight, That may not be the org engine, but its the one they gave me. I opened the crate and looks like all there, was told John had it sent to Canada and was gone thru. Other than that the rest is org and all there from what I can tell. The seats and all are like brand new. Really cool car. I'll get more info and post soon.

it is a '29 (can tell from door handles, hubcaps, instrument cluster) ergo it would have a big (288 cubic inch) "F-head" (overhead int. valves) 6 cyl. engine with an alum. cover on the head.
I believe it is a std. sedan; if it is a long w.b. sedan it is not a Biddle & Smart.

if you got an early straight 8 engine with it it will have 2 heads; count the spark plugs or spark plug holes - if you have an 8 we can find a buyer for it esp. if it's already rebuilt

It is a standard sedan, Hudson steel body, 122" w.b. Should have six cylinder F-head motor. Straight 8 was 1930, and not easily interchangeble.
  • Do you have title? What are the condition are the fenders in?
Post a picture of the motor if you can.
  • Here are pics of the fenders, also in perfect shape and ready for paint. also a pic of the trans , gas tank , radiator , drive shaft , steering wheel, etc. Lots of boxes of parts and bags most labled. On one of the other pics still has the A sticker on the org windsheld stating you could purchase gas any day of week, really neat. The wood on the roof is all done. I did not get to the shop today to get vin or check wheel base but will soon.
  • Here are some pics of the Engine that is in the crate. Looks like the org straight 6 motor. I was mis told it was a eight. Need to be put together but all there. First time I opened the box up. Also it is a 122in wheel base. If any of you are poss intrested in this or know someone that might be , let me know. If I cant sell it soon to someone like the colectors on these kind of sites , I'm going to try Ebay or ? Thanks!
