In the opening sequence there's video of an old Hornet in the woods. It's a documentary about Mario Andretti. There's other Hudson footage throughout. Mario was a huge Hudson fan. Great Hudson footage.

That car isn't a Hornet. It's a '53 Super Wasp Coupe0

I bought some of the parts off of this Hudson that they made into Mario's race car. This Hudson was a restored Hudson Coupe, I seen the Hudson Race car last week.

Awesome! What a nice story and a nice gift to Mario Andretti. Thanks for sharing. Michel0

What a great love story to Hudson and Andretti for sure. I think I got a lump in my throat watching it. Even cooler that you can race that car in the Grand Turismo 6 game. That time lapse photography of the build was cool.0

One thing I thought strange while watching the buid was the front frame clip moving up and down. Also wanted to see how they repaired the right side front sub frame section where the front frame clip welds to, but then the camera switched to the left side and didn't go back.
very much enjoyed it!0 -
Where is the 53 that they started with because the red car is a 48-49 with a small rear window?0

48 Sedan, I have parts of the '53 coupe, the grill, seats rear and front, rear window. The '49 Coupe I have the rear window, front fenders, rockers, grill and misc. Also part of the hood that was cut off, now a wall hanger in my garage.0

Did they built 2 cars?the 53 was so rusted I wondered if they had to find a better car in short order.0 -
48 Sed, they must of needed a Hudson in short order. The '49 was almost a show car, well 20 ft show car, all the chrome was great, seats sold for over $1,000.00.0

I thought so as the frame was shot on the 53 as can be seen when the engine was lifted out.

The frame is fixable especially with their tools but they were on a really tight time frame.
This kind of sours the build for me!
That is why I quit watching car related "reality" build shows as I think way too much misleading information is put on them.0 -
For the average person watching they may think it was the same car but the dash and back window were so obviously different.
I liked how the engine was sent out to the engine shop but looking at the close up it looks untouched.
I wonder if the 53 ever got finished?0 -
The '53 was parted out, I got the motor trans, seats, back window , rear bumper and part of the grill. Tried to get the 1/4 panels and rear end, but when I got there the rest of the '53 was sent to th"Crusher".0
