  • I should never read the "comments" after such things. It doesn't matter if you think the styling was not appealing to some or the engine was "weak" or of an outdated design. That's not the point. It's a Hudson Italia.....That's the point. The people who write up those descriptions never quite get it right, do they......."dual two barrel carburetors......" They look a lot like the original WA-1s to me.
Of course I've never driven an Italia but I'd suppose it was reasonably quick in its time, but that wasn't what they were going for, was it?
When I win that Mega Millions thing, it's MINE!!

  • Frank, thats why there is Vanilla as well as Chocolate. Taste and opinion are are as individual as fingerprints.
  • I've been told I have class and taste......low class and poor taste.
Make that two scoops of chocolate, please.

    ditto 46 and a lot of Hudsons I pick such as an '09, a '29 H dual cowl phaeton, a '31 H boattail, '33 T8 conv. before I'd buy an Italia.

I'd definitely go and buy that Italia. But I couldn't promise I wouldn't be side-tracked if I ran into a fully loaded '46-'47' Commodore 8 convertible on the way there. Then I'd go "Oh shoot don't have $500,000 anymore. Guess I'll pick up that rare special bodied 1929-'31
7 passenger sedan with dual side-mounts and a trunk with the rest." LOL
  • Ohhh. I didn't mean to say that it would be my first choice.....not by a long shot. I just meant that if I won "The Big One", I'd use it to help fill up space in my 47 gazillion sq. ft. Museum not to mention the great feeling of outbidding everyone else in the room.
Aaron.....I like the way you think. That '47's very near the top of my list as well.

I did own an unrestored Italia (#15), drove another, had numerous Jets. Been there, done that, left the building and slammed that door.

For anyone who still wants to drive one of these things, I just completed a driver Italia that I plan to bring to French Lick. Look me up, we will go for a drive.

I'll take you up on that offer too. I already had a ride in your Jet Convertible. Looking forward for trip in the Italia.

Ok no problem. Jet convertible rides are much more rare. I can't think of more than 10 people who have been it.

I sort of think it would be neat to have one of those hemi powered 38, 39 Dodge coupes I built back in the 50's. Maybe I'll have one built for me when I win that next big mega millions jackpot.
Of course, you all realize, there will be at least one of as many Hudsons, et al, that I can find in a big building.
Oh, well, what's life without a dream or two.

Nice car but pricey... at least it's in it original condition, that's not really the case of this one :

I just don't understand where the money is, who will pay such an amount for a modified truck ?

  • MikeWA

Short answer on the truck- no one. If you follow prices on full out customs, 100K seems to be about the limit, unless they are really special and desirable. This one has the added disadvantage of being ugly.
  • If this guy really had "an affinity for ol' Hudson Terraplanes", he'd have never created such a hideous thing from one. Sad. For a fraction of the $ he could have made it a very desirable vehicle.

    Yea, what a waste....
HOW MANY Hudsons could he have rescued and brought back to life for that much $$$!!
