Resurection of a 49 Brougham
I have a similar post on the HET Forum, but knowing it doesn't get the same exposure....
I am resurrecting a 49 Super 6 Two door. It came to me as a rolling hulk.. Nothing left but the shell and suspension. I have a small list of some bits and pieces I know I need. Others will surface as the assembly progresses.
These parts need not be N.O.S. just useable. Or repairable .
The attached picture is before I got the car. By the time I got it, the battery carrier, original wheels, sway bar and engine mounts had disappeared! It does resemble a car now. but needs a lot of TLC and a few pieces.
+
1.0 The brackets that hold the top of the fender skirts to the body. Two on each side. held on by two screws.
2.0 The chrome cover for the center grille bar.
3.0 one parking light shell only. (Looks like a Spam can.) I can build one from a basic shell.
4.0 center piece that connects the two defroster panels below the windshield. It's the one that the antenna goes through. I would like to have one without the hole,(no roof antenna) but will work with anything I can get.
5.0 One grill stainless strip I have 5, need 6. short or long doesn't matter.
6.0 Left side (left of steering shaft)die cast chrome strip that the starter button is in.
7.0 Clamp that holds the steering column to the dash, with the hole for turn signal wires.
8.0 Chrome bar that attaches to the bottom of the front bumper between the two center guards.
9.0 Four stepdown wheels.

Here is a picture with major bodywork done (including a chunk of the cowl on the drivers side) and a '54 262 installed. HydraMatic transmission is in Greenville South Caroline getting a rebuild. The front fenders and hood are back on, but I haven't taken a picture yet. So much to do!!0
