I'm not sure, but this looks like the center hinge that fits between the hood halves on mid-thirties Hudsons.

It looks like the seller has more than one, since I've seen it several times on Ebay. If it fits, this would be a great help for Hudson and Terraplane owners.

  • I think those were available from Mack truck dealers-or at least used to be. I know somebody who got one for his 54 MG TD. I believe he used this on a Terraplane as well.

The Hudson part is peaked slightly at the center.

So, it would work in a pinch sounds like, although it isn't exactly like the original (sans peaked center)?

According to some Mack truck forums, those center hinges haven't been available from Mack for a couple years now.

I've heard that the MC-TC hood hinges will work, but looking at the cross section, I think the ones now on Ebay would match the Hudson hinge better than these:

Here's the company that sells the MG hood strip: vintagecarparts.co.uk/products/7w-16632-chrome-bonnet-strip-hinge-y-e93a

There are of course many cars and trucks, foreign and domestic, that used a center hood hinge. Make sure of adequate LENGTH when ordering from a supplier because Hudson products were fairly big cars and many popular vehicles like Fords have shorter hinges and of course the Ford hinge is available everywhere.

Have you, or has anyone you know, actually used a hinge other than the two mentioned above, for mid-thirties Hudsons? Did they fit the Hudson application, and were they available in the necessary lengths?

Many years ago I bought a Mack hinge when I did the '33 Terraplane. That would have been about 1980. It had the peaked center, was more than long enough, and it is my understanding that part number was discontinued by the '90s.
