No, the stainless molding is what the glass actually seats against. It is held in place over the body pinch weld with butyl. Butyl is also what needs to be used when reinstalling the glass. Make sure you have all the pieces cleaned up,and all the screws ready to install before putting the butyl on the body around the glass. Slide the glass into place with the rubber windsheild gasket installed on it/them,install the interior garnish moldings, as per shop manual. It is usually better to pull the glass upward and outward, once you have made contact with the body. This allows the center divider screws to go in easier. The center divider needs to have an ample amount of sealer on it for proper sealing. If you noticed, there was originally a bunch behind the divider bar. Once you have installed the inside garnish moldings, with the glass in place properly,get a box of paper towels and carefully wipe off the excess buytl that will ooze from around the stainless and the glass. Bug and tar remover works well when trying to clean the excess buytl off, and won't damage the painted surfaces. .0
