I've finally got around to cataloging HET lit. I didn't sell at San Mateo. Went thru binder containing 32 "Service Magazines" from '37 to '42 & found a few scans some of you might find of interest & or useful.
First, from Jan. '41 pic of a '41 sd. with new option, fender moldings which I remember someone asked about some time ago.

next from the Oct. '41 Service Magazine, drawing of '41 conv. top mechanism; I assume this to be the same set up used thru '47?

next a pic of factory steering wheel puller with the adapter for the new '40 steering wheel.
I had/have one of these factory pullers & made various adapters as I used it on various years & sizes of Hudson steering wheels over the years.

and last but not least, article & photo of San Antonio dealership's panel delivery - sounds like this dealership a big one, wonder if anyone ever tried to find it's location, etc.????

    Pete-

Orsinger Motor Co. (now Orsinger Buick) has been in San Antonio since the beginning of the 20th century, or so. I am not sure that their current location was the same location as the dealership when they were selling Hudsons, but it could be. Am looking into it . . .

This neat panel del. would appear to be a long w.b. model. HUDSON-TERRAPLANE hubcaps so either a '37 or '38; anybody tell for sure?
These Service Magazines have lots of little articles about dealers & photos of their shop areas. Also urging dealers to sell accessories, photos of acc. display racks (I didn't scan any of them as pretty dark) + articles on maintenance & repairs.

I asked about the fender molding's about 18 months ago? when it was still the old forum.
Somebody on the forum bought them from me , sorry I can't remember who. Michigan address?
Nice to see the bulletin to verify they were available for Hudson. Mine came out of a dealership
that was both Hudson and Cadillac. I worked there for 12 years.
It was the oldest Cadillac dealer in Ohio until it was shut down 5 years ago , during the financial meltdown.
Thanks for taking the time to post those.

Actually, that's a faux pas on my part, I should say they WERE around until just recently.

Pete will drop you an email directly. I have most of the 1937-1942 service magazines. Will send what I have and we'll see what we can work out if you have the ones I don't.

  • This is obviously much later.....appears to be dated 1-55, and the smiling Hudson tech guy has his hand on a 308 but check out the short block below it. Hmmmmm. I want one of those. An artists conception of an engine Hudson never built.
I just wondered if this was a common piece of Lit 'cause I've never seen one anywhere else.

I wonder if that is a Nash or Rambler engine block? It sure is NOT a Hudson. Or as you say, an artists conception?

looks like a 37 Nash engine to me

The panel delivery's hood side panels look like '38.
  • It's a Hudson Service Data publication No. 31. No mention is made of anything but Hudson.
I've decided it's the pressure lubed splasher, 6 cylinder Eight with the rare inverted timing cover. I'm almost positive of that.
The back page shows many of the Washington dealers, including my hometown Olympic Motors.

Orsinger Hudson became Orsinger Buick, which still has active websites listing it as an active business, but it sold out some time ago to other dealers in town. Ironically, the telephone # that they had forever is now Cavender Cadillac's main number.

Orsinger Hudson was located at 445 Main Ave. The original building is no longer there.

On Sarah's Jet website, under the dealer listings, she has a picture of a postcard from Orsinger Hudson. I've asked her for a copy of it. ( http://hudsonjet.net/ )

I agree with Park. The panel looks to be a '38 Terraplane.
