Nice to see that car again. If I'm not wrong that '53 belonged to Ray Robinson in CT. When he died it passed to his sister, Hazel (now there was a wonderful lady - always enjoyed getting to see her at (usually) Carl Webers meet). Ray also had an Italia - I believe Wayne now owns both of them.
Great article - but as kdancy says they need to change the date on the car. Oh well, somebody will tell him someday.
Automobile Quarterly did an article on that '53 - but I don't remember when it came out.

  • Yes, that's the Robinson car. He got it and his Italia from the same family. It's sort of odd to hear Mr. Graffiti refer to the Hornet as being 400 cubic inches. Obviously not well schooled on his Hudsonisms

I already told Mike about changing the year to 53, he said he would when he gets some time
    :-))

He did a fabulous job on revitalizing the paint!

I saw the chasing cars show last week when he picked up the 53. He had all three of the Ray cars outside the shop at his home and took a photo. The three cars are part of his private collection and he indicated his intent to keep them.

Wayne said the same thing in the episode where he bought the car. I remember thinking that he should know better.
