Anyone got a line on a good deal for OEM-type carpeting for stepdowns. I bought some from Dick Bell about 15 years ago that were really great, but I doubt he has any left....(LOL)

Bob Rosol in NJ. In the roster. Have bought 3 carpet sets from him and they are nice, fit well and although I can't remember exactly what I paid, they weren't outrageous, price-wise. Just bought the convertible top from him, as well the other day.

Chester & Harrod carpets in Escondido CA offer them. I called them about making me a carpet in the original foam backed daytona weave material for my 54 Hornet. He knew what I was talking about and said he could get it and has the patterns for Hudson's.
  • Thank you both...Chris the tip about Chester & Harrod is especially nice as Escondido is just down the road from where we now live....Thanks guys !!

I had my carpet done by SMS in portland org. Feels like a shaved Bison rug. Beautiful job.

What kind of prices have you been seeing for a stepdown front carpet? A local shop here that does excellent work wants over $400 to do one. I note that the parts book says convertibles had different carpet. What was different? Type of material, or just the colors?

I don't know the difference in a convertible Vs sedans, but there is a difference in the shape of the transmission hump between an Automatic or HydraMatic Vs the early standard shift cars. So one size does not fit all.

$400 just for the front? That sounds a little excessive. If I remember right, Bob charges either $250 or $275 for the whole set.

Can you send Bob down here with his tools?
