Well, we are on our way!
Just ordered this shrink-er stretcher to help with the curves.

The work on the car looks really nice!
I'll be interested in seeing what you have to say about the new shrinker/stretcher. I've thought about buying one of those because of the throat depth as compared to my Lancaster type. But the price was always a little too much for me. I suspect your not going to like the stand. But the machine will be fine. ...I hope.
For shrinking I think this is the best way to curve a flange. But for stretching I prefer compression. I know you didn't ask, but there is my two cents anyway.
Looking forward to seeing the updates, and how you fix the parimeter frame around the back. I've never done that before.0 -
Always interested in other views. Thanks for the input.
I did a lot of reading on that shrinker stretcher before pulling the trigger. Hope it works as good as the feedback!
While I was writing this, FedEx delivered it.
first impressions-
Looks painted instead of powdercoated. That will be a problem as paint is just not as durable as PC and I live in a very humid area.
Tag has "made in China". The truth be known, had I known that when I first looked at them I would not have even taken a second look!
One corner of the stand foot looks to have been bent when they loaded it in China. I took a 4 lb hammer and rapped it a few times to straighten it out.
I put it together and ran a scrap piece thru, the machine did as it was designed. I will work with some more metal and add to the report for those interested. I wish I had another machine with the "Lancaster" jaws to compare as you can get those made in the U.S.0 -
The work looks good, Kerry! Thanks for posting the pictures. Look forward to seeing y'all's progress.0
