We've now posted a "Forum Instructions" discussion at the H-E-T's own Forum. If you're signed into that Forum you can go right over the read it by clicking this link: hetclub.org/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=3&id=910&Itemid=594

If you're not yet registered you can sign up by going to the main page hetclub.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=featured&Itemid=575
and following the instructions. H-E-T members get full privileges; guests can sign up for "limited membership" in the website.

If you have any specific questions on how to use the H-E-T forum, please post them as a "reply" to the "Forum Instructions" and we'll attempt to answer it!

With any luck we'll make it easier for you to use the H-E-T's forum, as well as this one.

Jon are you wanting folks here to leave this forum to build up the HET forum?
I've filled out that application several times , always a problem.
I like it here just fine , what does the other {HET] have to offer?
This is pretty easy to use and post photos on.
I can't even get signed up over there without giving my phone number out.

We have no intent of closing this one. It's popular and accessible to everyone. We don't want anyone to leave it. Anyway, it belongs to Classiccar.com and we couldn't close it if we wanted to!

However, it has only three categories for discussions, which means it can be quite difficult to retrieve information, since the main category is so large and occupies over 20,000 posts. The H-E-T Forum has many categories fro which to choose, so each discussion can be grouped into a related sub-division for easy retrieval. And we can quickly and easily add more categories as they become necessary.

The Classiccar forum is pretty easy to use, but the H-E-T forum is also easy to use and to post photos on. However, it has a slightly different format than the Classiccar one, thus the "instructions" we've just posted over there.

Because this Classiccar forum is generally open to the public, we don't have a place where "Club business" can be discussed by Club members, out of the eye of the general public.

If you have problems signing up at the H-E-T forum, you can contact our webmaster (coincidentally, the H-E-T President!) who will strive to help you.

The biggest reason for devising the H-E-T's own forum: it's the Club's, we can configure it as we wish, and it is not subject to outside forces. On several occasions over its life, there have been changes in the (non H-E-T) forum which we had no control over. The format would change. There would be a shutdown for no apparent reason. In one case the forum simply ceased to exist, when the company that ran it closed down. We then had to scramble to open a temporary forum for several months. We have been happy with Classiccar and hope this forum continues here for many years. However, having a forum of our own guarantees that, no matter what happens, we will continue to have a Hudson-specific forum on the air and that its large archive of discussions and images will be preserved.

Each forum has something to offer, but each has its own unique advantages as well.

To quickly search the CCC Hudson Forum (current and historic posts) using Google type the following into the search box:

ClassicCar.Com XYZ1234 -- change XYZ1234 to the key word(s) you are attempting to find.

With all due respect, I wonder if the HET forum may have too many categories, thus making it less user friendly. I notice the moderators have to "move" a lot of posts from one category to another either because the poster didn't understand where to put it or maybe not agreeing with where to put it.
I don't understand why the HET forum doesn't get more use. Whether or not we are members, I would much rather support the car club than a private concern if all else was equal.

  • Is it supposed to be possible to register for the National in French Lick on the HET site? When I click on the form, nothing happens.

    Hi, Arkie:

I'm assuming that the form is meant to be printed out and filled out by hand. I could be wrong, 'cause I'm not the one in charge of that. Could you please bring this to the attention of our webguy (and H-E-T Prez) Aaron? His e-mail address is HETwebmaster@hetclub.org (delete the HET before you press the SEND button!).
  • Will do
