Recently I was informed that there was a Hudson For Sale in my area. I went to see what it was. It turned out to be 1949 Hudson Super Six Brougham (2 Dr sedan). The car was missing the rear fender skirts, the hood ornament was not Hudson and it look like it had later model side trim. Otherwise it look in good shape. I could not get close look at it because it was behind a fence. I called the owner and found out that the car had been in long term indoor storage. It is equipped with a radio and a heater. I believe it has Hornet engine because the owner said that the head had 308 on it. The owner was not knowledgeable enough about Hudson’s to say for sure. The car comes with 1950 six cylinder Hudson 4 door parts car. This car had been in long term outdoor storage which why the owner said it was a parts car. The owner wants $12,000 for both. The car is located in Lancaster California.
Also the owner knows where there are ten Hudson parts cars of the 1949-53 vintage for sale. He does not own these cars but is the point of contact for them.

If you have any interest in these cars call Jim Young at 661-400-0250.

  • I believe the hood ornament is from a Packard. Known as the 'donut chaser'. Those are not cheap ornaments.
  • I was with Harold King when he Traded for that car in Howard, SD. The engine was out of it when a tornado took the engine and the barn away. Luckily the car was at a different farm and did not suffer damage. After the car was brought to Lancaster, It was stored inside for a number of years, as it had been in SD. It may have been out side for a very short period of time after Harold sold it. I loved that hood ornament. The interior was in remarkable shape for being original. I don't know anything about the new engine.
My Hudson was at one time Harold"s car. A friend and I brought it back to Lancaster, Ca.,for Harold, after picking it up in Oogalla, Neb. on the way back home from hunting pheasants in Howard SD. I thought Harold had parted it out, But it turned out that a tenant that was behind in Payments to me, owned a Hudson , so I took it in return for some of the rent. Not knowing that it was the same car that we hauled from Neb. Harold still has 8 or 10 step down desert cars. not much rust but no paint and bad upholstery

That would be my guess, but they are near Warren, Ohio now, birthplace of Packard.
