49 fender tie panel?

At least I think thats what they call them in the body service manual.
Both of mine are toast. Does anybody have any decent spares or leads?
Its the crusty bracket in the pic bolted to the core support. Thanks.

    The tie panel goes across the radiator 'U' channel and has the lower hood latch plate attached to it.I believe what you are looking for is a fender corner reinforcement for left and right sides.

    On the other hand, they are fairly simple flat pieces with only one bend. You could make replacements out of just about any scrap steel. Make a paper template from one of your rusty ones. I made new 49 grille louvers from a the front panel of an old dishwasher and inner splash panel from a Maytag washing machine. Once painted, they look like originals. I was lucky enough to have the use of a sheet metal brake for the bending.

    Gotcha. Fender corner reinforcement makes more sense. If nothing turns up I'll just fab up some facsimiles and call it good. Can you tell me, does the bottom tie into that bolt on the apron?
    Seems odd that this whole front clip is rust free except for these two brackets. Bad spots on the outer frame rails near the trans crossmember had previously been covered with tin pop riveted on.
    Trans crossmember was packed solid with sand,gravel,clay,and oil some near the consistency of concrete. Current repairs will outlast me and hopefully keep this one going well into the future. That's the plan anyway...

    On the fender piece..I have a front fender off my 49 two door. I will take some pics of the installation of those parts and post as soon as I can. Do you have enough of the panel left to make a pattern, or do you need dimensions to make one ?

    After review of your picture. I answered my own question. You are missing a good portion! Here are some pics. One is of the right, installed. The others are of the left one. Mine has a small piece rusted off, but doesn't hinder it's use. The two bends have reinforcements pressed in to them. No reason to use them, as long as the metal is rigid enough. You could weld a short gusset to replicate them. I also made a pattern on craft paper. I would be happy to snail mail it to you.
