34 Front springs

G'day All,
Having decided to retain the original type of axle for 34, I need to get front springs made
Don't have any to use as pattern so am seeking info on number of leaves and "set". ie how much built in curvature when springs are under no tension / compression
The length is shown in the manual as I think from memory, 31 inches, eye to eye ( as far as chassis mounts are concerned)
So, would appreciate advice to pass on to spring manufacturer - bearing in mind I wouldn't mind a bit more set and ground clearance and I will probably be using metric stock, 45mm wide
Chassis is back from sandblasters so work on the Railton now officially commences
Thanks
Phil

Phil, Eaton Detroit Spring may be able to help you in this endeavor. They can fabricate new springs from old Hudson specs that they still have on file. Don't know if they have any specs going back to 1934 but I would give them a try. May be worth while. Phone number is 313 963 7047. Good luck in any event.0

Geoff, do those dimensions also apply to 35 H8 export springs?
Out of curiosity, is there much difference between export spring specs and US spring specs?
The short end of the front spring goes to the front and the short end of the rear spring goes to the rear?
Why is the top leaf of the rear spring in 2 pieces? Is it to do with the rear springs are not being parallel, a means to provide a little side flex in the spring?0 -
'35 springs are different as the front eye turns down to give a lower ride. Specs for export 35H8 are front 10 leaves, short end 15-11/16", long end 16-13/16". Free arch 2-1/4". rears, 11 leaves, 26-13/16" l/e 28-1/16" free arch 6-5/8". I have no idea why they had split leaves on the top of the stack. The rear of the front spring, and front end of the rear spring are the long ends.0
