Back from the plater---
Knox Custom Chrome, I sent the very poor condition front bumper and bumper guards (6) for them to have a go--
Very satisfied with the results. In the pictures, I sent the top bumper as it had less rust but was more wavy-torn.

1025.00 for the job with shipping.

Yeah, I'd say that was an improvement . . . looks great!0

That is very nice work especially considering the condition.0

Jim at Knox CC told me that it is a shame that most of these get junked because people don't believe they can be re-plated.0

These guys are in town and did some jet bumpers for a local member, and did a great job. Great to know that others are using them too. My front 33 bumper is a wreck, they may be the right guys to work on it.0

Which is the before and which is the after picture?
Just kidding. Nice work. How was the turn time? Regards, Tom0 -
I do not want to be a downer but I think the price you mention is twice what it should be. I get a bumper with bumper guards for under five hundred.0

And ?0

Brownie, I have too, only problem, they were much easier to plate and they didn't turn out near as nice as these did. I'll gladly take the quality over saving a few bucks.
7 weeks turn- around on these.0 -
Since I work for a plating business, I understand what you are saying and fully agree. With our hobby, nothing trumps quality. Next in importance is the reputation of the business.0

You been stone-wallin', Brownie!
can you get us a deal on bumper plating?

Any shop that can't plate bumpers should not be in the business. That said there are two kinds of chrome platers doing business OR two levels of pricing. Results that are "half price" and will last 3 years if 100% garaged and results that will last at least 20 years if driven and maintained. Its a very old story that you get what you pay for.0

Keith, I once did a lot of advertising and tried to make some money at the plating process. I gave up when I started working on Hudson's. The company that I work with is Ogden Chrome Plating (check them out on line) and they do mostly high end chrome for antique cars. In the past five years they have taken their show on the road and visit a number of car shows around the country each year. I stopped trying to make money at it a few years ago but continue to help out my friends and charge nothing for my services. If you have a part that needs work send me some photos and I will get you a preliminary bid. If you like the price you send in the parts and I give you a final price before we start the work. You pay my cost and shipping. You do not like the work they do I (not them) give you your money back. There are a lot of folks out there doing this work. I am not looking for business so I am excited with anyone that can get work done that they are happy with. By the way, if you have a part that no one else will do, I most likely can get it done. This is most often the case with Hudson emblems and pot metal work.0

Thanks, Brownie. Their website is really attractive. Your endorsement and backing makes them something I will save for future reference.

I can do chroming for all cars, turn around time 7 days. If you furnish a stepdown front bumper that does not need repair or welding I can chrome it for $265.00 plus shipping.0
