I found me a very nice opaque blue visor that I would like to put on my truck. I know the gutter rail attachment won't work.
I have seen some very bad looking ways to attach a visor to a truck.
Do any of you have any photo's or ideas on how I can make some good looking mounting brackets for the sides?
I am thinking of upper cab/ door gap.
I would also love to see some photos on the position and angles that you guys have done. I'm 6'4" and have a dash prism to put on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    FYI
Suggest ensure the Visor is for a '40's Hudson or similar '40's car having a pointed center divided windshield, or it may touch the roof in the middle. It's hard to see, but I reluctanty drilled the roof to install the two Stainless side brackets. The middle bracket attaches to the center windshield Divider Bar.(If) I ever remove it Iwill simply insert 2 Stainless screws...
  • Tallent R...that ain't gonna happen, as I'm not going to repaint my truck.

Ol racer..The visor is correct for the slope and shape of the trucks windshield and roof. The center mounts for the widshield divider fit and work very nicely. It is the side attachments I am looking at.
I like the placement of the visor on the red truck but I cant see the side attachment.

DocHubler.... We are talking about the exterior aftermarket visor

I still need some help to get it right.

You say "opaque", is it plexiglass? Have a picture?

I don't think there is a 'good' way to attatch the visor. Seems like guys have either screwed into the jamb or added a little piece of drip rail. Those atleast are the least offensive. Screwing into the outside of the body wouldn't even be an option, ...for me. Since the truck is already painted, and you don't want to get into the paint. I doubt there is a good way to install a visor on your truck.
  • Here is a pic of the visor.

    FYI
I looked for a closeup pic of my brkts but dont have one and the truck is covered in a trailer for winter. There is no way to mount a visor to a Truck other then drill the roof. Since I was never going to remove it I installed by making small brkts from pieces of Stainless, bending them into an angle about 2" long and 1" high. I held the visor on the roof marked the spots to drill, then mounted the small brkts onto the roof, then bolted the visor to the side brkts. You need a Center Brkt too.

Your Visor appears easier to install by cutting a piece of Aluminum Angle or Stainless then attach to the bottom bolt on existing side brkt in the picture, but think about alternate ways before installing...

Ive heard of a person installing Drip mldings on a '47 Truck but the elderly person does not remember what they came from, but it would require drilling too, unless they 'stuck on' but then wouldnt be capable of holding a visor...

You need a Traffic Light 'View Finder' using a Visor. There are inexpensive plastic ones that work well.
