Hello, just thought it was about time to introduce myself as I have been following this forum and the HET for some time now. My name is Rod and I live in northwest Arkansas. Have collected and restored tractors for years. Recently bought a '51 hornet 4 door. It is a driver, came to me with the front disc brake conversion but still has the original master cylinder, converted to 12V and solid state ignition. It does not have the Twin-H set-up. My wife loves the car, seems a little easier to warm up to than a 16000 lb tractor. Many thanks to all who share their knowledge on these forums.

Welcome to a great forum. What brand of tractors did you restore - your favorite?

Welcome to the forum, Rod! Good looking Hornet. I'm sure you will find it's so much more fun to join in the conversations than to be a "lurker". I look forward to seeing more pics of your Hudson.

We used to have a fellow on here -- haven't seen him lately -- who called himself the Hudsonator. He farmed and had tractors, and I think he put a Hudson engine in one of 'em! His name was Mark Hudson and lived in Tennessee. It would be nice if he came back to the forum, then you guys could compare tractor notes.
  • Hey Jon, I have some extra INVADER engines, would love to see one of those in a tractor.
  • Hey Rod, I'm in NW Arkansas too.... here in Fayetteville. I've been around the block with Hudsons since Hector was a pup..... my email is arkiejazzOLDGRUMP@aol.com (delete OLDGRUMP)

I'm a tractor guy, too. Couple of Olivers, one each Moline and Cockshutt. And a '48 Hudson coupe.

Are you on ytmag? If so, what's your handle there? I'm Mike (WA).

Welcome to the family Rod - I'm over here in Memphis so not far from you. This is a great car club - this is really a family that loves Hudsons. You ought to consider making the annual International meet - this year it's in French Lick Springs, IN. But, that said 2016 will be held in Chattanooga. Hope to meet up with you sometime.

    Hudsonly,

  • Hi ernie28, restored mainly two cylinder John Deeres. Favorites are the 1950s John Deere diesels and rubber tire Caterpillar tractors from the 50s.
    arkiejazz, sent an e-mail, thanks.
MikeWA, i have not been on Yesterdays Tractor website in a long time. Always wanted a MM GB diesel from the mid 50s.
L Hudson, the D21 was always a favorite tractor at the pulls.
    Thanks guys for the welcome.

  • Sorry for the upside-down pic.

It's odd. When you click on it, it's not upside-down. For a moment I thought you had the ultra-rare Step-Up Upside-Down Hudson, which is quite a find, let me tell you. ;)

You could always send that upside-down Hudson down here, where we are upside down to the Northern Hemisphere.

Then it would be an upside down Step-Down Down Under. And that's just too confusing! :-))
  • Transport,
Welcome to the wacky world of Hudsons. In Vermont there is a car show in June at Dorr Farm in Manchester and they have a large collection of tractors lined up down the length of the field. There used to be an interesting tractor at the New Hampshire Farm Museum. I didn't see it there last time I was there but it was an early piece, perhaps homemade. One cylinder Grey engine and the thing was front wheel drive. This discussion will spur me to find out what became of it.
    Happy Hudsoning
