overdrive solenoids

I have 2 overdrive solenoids that were taken off stepdown transmissions. One is about 3/4 inch longer than the other. Am I dealing with 2 different makes of transmissions or a different maker of the solenoid? Are they interchangeable?
Thanks ,

I believe the '48-49 solenoids are slightly different from the later ones, but stand to be corrected on that. Providing the actuators are the same length it should not be a problem the actual physical size of the casing. Does anyone have wiring diagram for '46-'49 overdrives? I have the one for '50 onwards.

If memory serves me correct, the one with longer pall is for earlier 41-47 transmission, they will not interchange.

Geoff will provide after I get home in a few hours -- hope the information on the sheet was sufficient. The 48 and 49 solenoids have an additional holding coil that is not required for the later Hudson applications.

The number on the longer bodied solenoid is 1118147, which would be for the dual lever. What years had the dual lever. The person who needs the solenoid has a 53 hornet. Thanks for all your help.
