Stepdown Cooling Fan

Can anyone post a part# for a 6 bladed cooling fan to replace the original 4 bladed one?
I would like the increased air flow during stops in traffic and slow speed.
The pitch would have to match the original as the spacing is tight.
Thanks

It's funny you mentioned this.  I just am about ready to install this, maybe today.

I'm not a big fan of flex fans.  Anytime you have to include warning labels in multiple languages about your product possibly causing death or worse, something is greatly amiss. "Never operate the engine with the hood open" is simply stupid.

That being said, I wanted a fixed, rigid 6-bladed fan that looked somewhat vintage.  I decided on a Hayden, 3618:

An adaptor has to be made for this fan to fit the stock Hudson waterpump:

    the fan looks like this:

Will post a picture when I get it installed.

Plus, this gave me a chance to figure out how to post pictures on the new board.

Do you need a depth of how much room this fan uses?  You said your space was tight, but remember that step-downs have radiators that are quite adjustable in order to get more room.

I had a  a fan like this on my '29, and it sounded like a Jet-prop aircraft taking off!

I'll let you know how it goes, Geoff.  I had heard the same thing before, but mostly in regards to higher rpms.  Since I have the 5000rpm limit (which I'll probably never get very close to anyway), I'm hoping for a positive result.

I used one from a 76 Matador with AC. Worked great , but the noise was to much , I removed it.

I have used a six blade fan on my 1942 Brougham for many years, came off a Ford F100, never had a problem with it being noisy, keeps the car nice and cool even on the hottest of days.

What year F100 did you use,and was it a 17"one?

I guess my question would be are there different stock fans. Reason I ask is my 49 C8 came to me repowered with a later (55) 308 and a 4 blade fan I considered "stock". The other fan seen here came with the car as spare parts and has quite a bit more pitch in it. I realize when you say clearance is tight and quite possibly I'd have to put a spacer between the water pump pulley and fan to clear the alternator pulley. The spare (more pitch) fan moves the rear of the blade nearly 3/4" closer to the engine than the one that was on it.

Is there any part numbers stamped or printed on the blades to help identify them?
More pitch would be great if there is enough clearance to the lower rad hose.
Different blades can change the spacing between the blade and the rad also depending on the offset.
I am just looking at moving more air at lower speeds but don't want a noisy fan.
    Thanks
